Congratulations SPED!

Congratulations SPED!

CLAN was proud to collaborate with a range of partners in July 2015 to support the First International Workshop on Pediatric Endocrinology in Pakistan, which was a fantastic platform for the successful launch of the Society of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes (SPED) in Pakistan. The formation of this new society is a tremendous achievement and bodes well for children living with endocrine conditions in Pakistan in the years ahead!

Our especial thanks must go to the wonderful colleagues from APPES (the Asia Pacific Pediatric Endocrinology Society), ISPAD (the International Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes) and NICH (the National Institute of Child Health) in Karachi for making this possible.

In particular, we would like to acknowledge Prof Maria Craig, Dr Suttipong Wacharasindhu and Dr Reiko Horikawa (from APPES), Dr Linda Fisher (from ISPAD), Ms Angie Middlehurst (from Life for a Child) and Prof Jamal Raza and Dr Yasir Khan (NICH) for making the First International Workshop on Pediatric Endocrinology (that was held over three days at the Marriott Hotel in Karachi in July) such an incredible success.

Over 30 experiences paediatric endocrinologists from across Pakistan travelled to Karachi to participate in the Workshop. The level of education provided by all speakers was truly outstanding. As one participant at the Workshop said to Prof Jamal Raza after the new paediatric society was launched...

"Thank-you for making this possible. We were living in rented premises, but now you have given us all a home".

Congratulations to all!
