Inaugural CAH Club meeting in Nigeria

CONGRATULATIONS to the CAH Community of Nigeria and their wonderful health professionals (most especially Dr Abiola Oduwole!) for the successful launch of their CAH Club in late September 2013. Families were able to come together for the first time and receive information and support, and were hugely encouraged to know that so many people around the world supported their activities. Special thanks must go to Prof Ze'ev Hochberg of GPED (Global Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes) for attending in person and supporting the fantastic efforts that are underway locally!

CLAN would also like to thank the wonderful Irene Mitchelhill for her wisdom and encouragement - and of course for generously sharing her fantastic CAH resource CAH Pep Talk. We are also extremely grateful to Alphapharm Australia for generously helping us to make a humanitarian donation of Hydrocortisone tablets to the Nigerian CAH Community earlier in 2013, and we understand this has been a great help to families. Many thanks to the Australian CAH Community also for raising much needed funds to help safely courier the drugs to Nigeria.

CLAN is committed to ongoing work with international partners to focus efforts on longer-term affordable access to medicines. Of course, we understand that families also face other challenges moving forward - in particular they find access to key blood tests and poverty to be enormous burdens. Our sincere thanks to Dr Margaret Zacharin (also a member of GPED) for her commitment to travel to Nigeria in November and support a follow-up meeting of the CAH Community there. CLAN is excited to be working with such fantastic partners to effect long-term, sustainable change for the international CAH Community!
