Kudu and Mimi is a new business that will be launching in the coming months www.kuduandmimi.com.au via a crowd funding campaign with discounted pre sales to start their social enterprise.

They are unique in that they will be donating their profits to charity. Kudu and Mimi has a line of baby and children’s clothing made from GOTS certified organic cotton and also leather nappy bags. All their products are manufactured ethically. They have partnered with CLAN to reach the goal of providing children with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) in resource poor communities with a life-saving medical kit through the sale of items from their Summer 2016 collection. CLAN has received a grant from Pfizer Australia to ensure this goal can be reached.

Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) is a condition, which affects the production of hormones from the adrenal gland.“Congenital”means present at birth:“Adrenal”means adrenal glands:“Hyperplasia”means enlarged. Children born with this condition have an enzyme deficiency, which interrupts the normal production of the hormones from the adrenal gland. There is both cortisol and aldosterone deficiency, and an over stimulation of other hormones called androgens, with all causing significant health issues for the child. Management is through replacing the missing hormones and suppressing the excess androgen production, with more specific management required during times of illness. People with CAH can unexpectedly go into adrenal crisis, requiring an emergency kit of hydrocortisone. Most people in resource poor communities do not have access to, nor know that there is such medicine available. This can be a life-threatening situation and often the hospitals will not have the medicine that is required to treat these children.

What Kudu and Mimi is trying to achieve is to save the lives of children with CAH in resource poor communities. CLAN has partnered with a prominent international drug company to ensure the goals of Kudu and Mimi can be achieved. All they need now is to support this program. If they can reach their target in their launch, they will be able to provide over 1300 life saving kits to children in these resource poor communities from our launch. Their Facebook page is www.facebook.com/kuduandmimi and their Instagram is kuduandmimi.
