Joseph Freeman
Joseph Freeman is just a few months from finishing his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Sydney, concurrently studying his Masters of Public Health. He assisted CLAN with their work in Indonesia, something he had a particular aptitude for due to his Diploma of Language, majoring in Indonesia. Prior to Jo’s postgraduate medical studies, he completed his undergraduate studies in 2017, a double degree: Bachelor of Philosophy and Bachelor of Medical Research. Upon completion of his current studies, Jo will be undertaking a PhD. He has a keen interest in international public health, with his Indonesian language skills supporting his prior role in the Indonesian Paediatric Society, reviewing WHO policies to ensure they are consistent with the society and hospitals in which they are implemented, as well as working alongside CLAN in supporting patient groups... |
Kevin Smith
Kevin was born and raised in Jamaica, and moved to the US in 2016. Kevin is currently completing his PhD in Economics, focusing on health economics, researching how to make the healthcare market more competitive, as well as the economic and medical impacts of prenatal outcomes. Kevin was an invaluable member of CLAN’s Youth Representative team at LeHigh University in Pennsylvania, and his interview opened our eyes to the importance of an intersectional approach to public health, in order to truly combat the root causes. Kevin’s work is vital to redressing the prevalence of these diseases in future generations, and we can’t wait to follow his work as it unfolds. |
Nadine Clopton
Nadine is an outstanding young woman, who has achieved so much. Nadine serves as the Youth Representative to the United Nations for CLAN, alongside her vast array of other work, as the Non-Indigenous Youth Representative for IndigenousNCDs, the Director on the Global NGO Executive Committee, Chair of the Youth & Intergenerational Subcommittee of this. She was deeply involved in the Global Youth Climate Action Declaration, and is currently working on a film based on climate change from the perspective of the younger generation. Nadine is also building up her sustainable consulting business, Conscious Consulting. Rabia Baloch
Rabia is an inspiring and educated woman from Pakistan, who graduated with a Bachelors in Dentist Surgery, and then her Masters of Public Health. Rabia is currently a public health lecturer at APPNA Institute of Public Health, Jinnah Sindh Medical University. Alongside this role, she facilitates research and projects related to public health in her capacity as a faculty member, and plays a role in UNICEF and Red Cross initiatives. Rabia’s first formal job role was with CLAN as the Community Development Officer in Pakistan from 2015-2018. Zuha Ahmed
Zuha is a third year university student at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, majoring in Anthropology and Literature. This led her to working with us at CLAN, where she has contributed significantly, compiling awareness messages and creating illustrations for future social media posts and projects. She also worked jointly with CLAN and IndigenousNCDs on the development of a toolkit for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with NCDs. |
